Medical Front Office workers are a vital part of today's medical offices as they influence the first impression of the medical office. They perform a variety of duties, including greeting and scheduling patients and visitors, bookkeeping, calling patients to remind them of appointments, handling billing, answering and routing calls, making transactions, and keeping paperwork organized.

 

FILE MANAGEMENT FOR THE MEDICAL OFFICE - POFT 1023

All you need to know about managing files in a medical office! You will learn how to apply various filing methods used in the medical office. You will be able to index, code, file, retrieve, and cross-reference records. In addition, you will examine the basic construction of a medical chart and its components.

 

MEDICAL LAW & ETHICS - MDCA 1091

Get an introduction to the concepts of medical law and ethics for health care practitioners. Participate in topic discussions including criminal and civil acts, contracts, negligence, and ethical concepts as they relate to the medical profession.

 

MEDICAL INSURANCE & BILLING - HITT 1013

Get an introduction to health insurance and reimbursement as well as become familiar with the health insurance industry, legal and regulatory issues, and differences in reimbursement methodologies. Learn the principles of medical billing related to proper claim form preparation, submission and payment processing, as well as the follow-up process. This course is recommended for anyone who is preparing for a career in a medical billing department at a physician’s office, clinic, or similar positions. Overview of the guidelines and benefits of ICD-10-CM, similarities and differences between ICD-9 and ICD-10. Application of basic coding rules, conventions, and guidelines. Suggested prerequisite: Medical Terminology

 

OFFICE FOR THE MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL - ITSC 1009

Review and brush up on your basic Microsoft Office skills! Review the basics of Word and Excel to meet the needs of a medical office.
