Bexar County Commissioners Court Honors Alamo Colleges

At a ceremony held recently in the Bexar County Commissioners Court chambers, Commissioner Justin Rodriguez presented a proclamation to Alamo Colleges District Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Board Chair Marcelo Casillas and other trustees honoring the district for being the only community college system in the nation to be recognized for excellence with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Also on hand for the presentation were Bexar County Judge Nelson W. Wolff, Commissioners Sergio “Chico” Rodriguez, Tommy Calvert and Kevin A. Wolff, and Alamo Colleges District Trustees Joe Alderete, Jr. and Dr. Yvonne Katz.

In recognizing the district, the proclamation noted that “The strides the Alamo Colleges District is making, and the success it has achieved, are a celebration of a system that facilitates more people in Bexar County attaining life-changing success that will help realize the district’s far-reaching vision of ending poverty in the San Antonio area through education.”

“We are honored to be recognized by the Bexar County Commissioners Court for this prestigious national award,” said Alamo Colleges Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores. “The Alamo Colleges District has enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership with the Commissioners Court and the county, which has benefitted the district as well as the residents of the county. We thank them for their support and this special recognition of our Baldrige award,” he added.
