October 31, 2019
At their regular October board meeting, the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees recognized Wells Fargo for its 2019 cumulative investment of $100,000 to support AlamoPROMISE!
Wells Fargo Regional Bank President Joe Atkinson and Executive Vice President and Division Manager Mark Metcalf presented an oversized “check” to Board of Trustees Chair Marcelo Casillas, Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores and Alamo Colleges Foundation Executive Director Sheila Marlow Due. Metcalf is also chairman of the St. Philip's College President's Advisory Board.
Wells Fargo has been a long-standing philanthropic partner to the Alamo Colleges family of colleges for many years, and in 2019 Wells Fargo has made a cumulative investment of $100,000 to support AlamoPROMISE! Specifically, this investment has supported the following pilot programs: Summer Bridge, helping underprepared students boost math proficiencies and gain necessary skills to be successful in college; career exploration; and financial literacy coaching that is being scaled up across the district to educate and empower students with financial knowledge and resources, so they can apply this information to their own lives for financial security and financial wellness.
“With great supporters like Wells Fargo, we will end poverty through education in San Antonio,” said Dr. Flores. Thank you for helping us to achieve our vision of being the best in the nation in student success and performance excellence,” he added.
Wells Fargo is one of several contributors to AlamoPROMISE. Others include the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, JP Morgan Chase, the Pat and Don Frost Foundation and the Frost Bank Charitable Foundation.
