Students From All Five Colleges Awarded Total Of $67,000 In Scholarships

November 18, 2019

Earlier this year, longtime Foundation board member Hall Hammond had a simple but powerful idea…Help make dreams come true for current students at all five colleges, right away!

With that in mind, Hall asked his network of colleagues and friends to give to this new scholarship (named after himself and Pat, his wife of 60 years). Since May 2019, Hall and his friends have raised $67,000 for the Hall and Pat Hammond Scholarship, and all of the funds were awarded immediately as Fall 2019 one-semester scholarships to 135 students across the college district. Awards were made using the Alamo Colleges Foundation general scholarship criteria: any major; minimum 2.0 GPA; and be enrolled full time or part time.

Hall said he and Pat read every single thank you letter from the student recipients. “We were surprised and touched by the wide diversity of needs that the scholarships helped to fill,” Hall stated. “And we were so moved by the sincere appreciation expressed by the individual students.”
