Bio:

I have a Doctoral degree in Higher Education from the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas. The title of my dissertation is Examining Student Course Outcomes in First Year Anatomy and Physiology Using E-Books Versus Traditional Textbooks. Research undertakings include investigating causes of student failure in freshman chemistry courses; challenges adult students face reentering college; how culture affects students’ learning styles; and developing curriculum for workforce technical programs specifically advanced water treatment. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Houston in 1987. In 2010, I received a Master of Education degree focusing on Adult Education from UIW. I have over 25 years of experience working as an analytical chemist in industry and E.P.A. contract laboratories, 15 years in industrial water treatment, and ten years of experience teaching at the collegiate level. I currently hold the position of Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the Water Resource Science Program at Northwest Vista College.
