Northwest Vista Peace & Conflict Studies

I am a first generation college graduate who worked full-time jobs while completing my degrees. Along my educational journey, I have been fortunate to be helped by various mentors and look forward to helping students anyway I can.

I received both my BA and MA degrees in Political Science from Midwestern State University. As an undergraduate, I focused my studies on European political systems and international relations. In graduate school, I shifted my research focus to studying the use of nonviolent methods and social movements within authoritarian regimes. After graduating, I took a full-time teaching job and taught at two different community colleges here in Texas. While teaching, I also earned a second graduate degree in Educational Design & Technologies from Texas Tech University with a specialization in designing online and hybrid courses. In 2013, I took a full time position as a Lead Instructional Designer at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN where I collaborated with faculty on designing their online courses. During my time at Purdue, I entered into the Learning Design Technologies PhD program and completed my PhD while teaching here at NVC. In my personal time, I enjoy traveling, going to live music events and exploring the world with my two sons.
