Bio:
I teach writing courses as well as literature and humanities courses at NVC. I have been teaching at the college level for about ten years. I received my education in Texas; I earned my PhD from The University of Texas at San Antonio. My specialization is in gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity studies, and I have taught Women's Studies courses in the past at other institutions. I am especially skilled at mentoring LGBTQ students and have been a faculty advisor and advocate of campus LGBTQ groups in the past. Working toward a better world for everyone, especially those of groups marginalized by race, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender is my focus in my research but also my passion, and I aim to do advocacy work in everything I do. I would imagine I could be the most helpful in guiding students in areas like: working through courses while facing adversity, choosing a major and career, developing cultural awareness, and/or becoming engaged with campus or community life.
