Desiree owns her own firm and is a principal consultant and success strategist at Philanthropic and Policy Solutions. In this capacity, Desiree works with many high profile nonprofits offering services in public relations, event planning, fundraising, grant writing, strategic planning, leadership development and other activities.

Bio:

Desiree Serna, M.P.A., PhDc, is an instructor at Northwest Vista Community College where she teaches Political Science courses. Desiree also teaches graduate classes at the University of Texas at San Antonio in their Master of Public Administration. Desiree is a first generation Latina graduate. Her undergraduate and graduate degrees are from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations with Minors in Nonprofit Management and Business Management. Desiree also holds a Master in Public Administration (M.P.A.) and Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from UTSA's College of Public Policy. Desiree is a current PhD. candidate/ all but dissertation at Our Lady of the Lake University, Organizational Leadership Studies program. She owns her own firm and is a principal consultant and success strategist at Philanthropic and Policy Solutions. In this capacity, Desiree works with many high profile nonprofits offering services in public relations, event planning, fundraising, grant writing, strategic planning, leadership development and other activities. Desiree also works with local entities evaluating projects for potential incentive programs and funding sources the federal, state and local levels. Desiree is married with four children. As a native resident of San Antonio’s Westside, she enjoys spending time with her family at Woodlawn Lake Park; and going on scenic walks around her neighborhood and alma mater Jefferson High School. Her passion in life is being a servant leader, inspiring and motivating students.
