    Guest Artist Series I:
    Master Class by Dr. Shaunna Shandro

    The Singer's Guide to Auditioning for Musical Theatre

    Dr. Shaunna Shandro will be presenting a lecture about “A Singer’s Guide to Auditioning for The Musical Theatre”. NVC Singers will learn how to successfully prepare and execute a musical theatre audition, from typing themselves out, to choosing appropriate audition repertory, to crafting a successful cut of a song, to showing range and appropriate acting choices in their selected cut. Selected singers will be participating in the masterclass to learn the expectations as they audition for musical theatre productions and showcasing their abilities for maximum results.

    Master Class by Professor Darlene Wiley

    How Do I Prepare for My College Voice Audition?

    Head, Division of Vocal Arts, Professor Darlene Wiley from the University of Texas at Austin will be conducting a master class for selected singers who will be competing at the Texoma Region Online Audition in October. Her Lecture will cover the basics for college voice auditions, including requirements, expectations, recording of the pre-screening audition, resume plus background, and prepping for online interview and audition.

    Master Class by Dr. Melinda Brou

    Selecting Repertoire

    Dr. Melinda Brou serves as the Auditions Chair for the Texoma Region of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She is an active lecturer on the state and national level, presenting and performing at conferences such as the National Opera Association, National Flute Association, NATS Texoma, and Texas Music Educators Association. Dr. Brou will discuss parameters to consider when selecting solo vocal repertoire for students. She will also present a masterclass for selected singers.

    NVC Virtual Honors Recital

    Musical Theatre

    Dr. Minkyung Lee is excited to host the NVC virtual honors recital for students who are selected because they have gone above and beyond in their studies for this special recital showcase. Students will perform virtually famous musical theatre solos and ensemble. The group of soloists and ensemble singers will feature the most thrilling, ever-popular musical theatre repertoires. Special thanks to Dr. Bogum Park, piano, for sharing her amazing talent and tremendous work to support NVC singers.

    Watch Party II:
    NVC Virtual Honors Recital

    Art Songs and Opera Arias

    Dr. Minkyung Lee is excited to host the NVC virtual honors recital for students who are selected because they have gone above and beyond in their studies for this special recital showcase. Students will perform art songs, opera arias, and scenes from Opera. The group of soloists and ensemble singers will feature absolutely thrilling repertoires in classical with a collaborative pianist, Dr. Bogum Park.

    Watch Party III:
    Concert Choir and Chamber Singers

    Virtual Performance

    Northwest Vista College proudly presents Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, two talented groups of singers. Virtual stage direction and conduct by Dr. Minkyung Lee with an amazing partner on the piano, Dr. Bogum Park. To celebrate the last week of school for the Fall 2020 semester, the NVC Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will have a watch party together to view the final product of their virtual performance. Vista’s exciting Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will present some of the most beautiful and ever-popular songs including Walk Through Life, Fly Away Home, a well-crafted arrangement of A cappella, You Are My Refuge by Michael John Trotta, and I Sing Because by Will Todd.

  • Dr. Lee with voice students

    Online Auditions

    Dr. Minkyung Lee will participate in an online audition for Texoma Region NATS with selected singers from the NVC Music department this October. This is particularly beneficial for many voice students who will meet other singers from colleges in the Texoma Region and increase aspirations and motivation to compete with each other. By participating in a competition organized by NATS, students have a new opportunity to show their talents and invest extra hours of hard works towards competition preparation.

    Dr. Bogum Park will be an amazing partner on the piano to help NVC singers to prepare for this audition. Dr. Lee serves as an active judge for this event.
