We continue to take careful, gradual steps to open the SAC campus. Below is a timeline for our return. 

  • Fall 2021:
    Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, classes will be held on campus. Employees, students, and vendors' employees who are scheduled to work regularly on site wil be required to be screened weekly for COVID-19.

Mask Wearing Encouraged

The wearing of masks while on campus is not mandatory however, it is strongly encouraged in buildings.

Health Screening Locations

In an effort to ensure that we are maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all, before proceeding to your requested area, you must first go to a Health Screening Station located in any of the following buildings:

  • Moody Learning Center
  • Nursing & Allied Health Complex
  • Oppenheimer Center
  • Chance Academic Center
  • Longwith Radio, Television & Film Building

Free COVID Testing at SAC

Effective immediately, all employees, students, and vendors' employees who are scheduled to regularly work or attend classes on site will be required to participate in weekly COVID-19 testing (PCR test).

Alamo Colleges District has partnered with Community Labs to offer free COVID-19 nasal swab. (No insurance is required). COVID-19 Testing takes place at SAC in the Moody Learning Center Lobby on the following days and times:

MONDAYS    1:30 - 5:30 p.m.
TUESDAYS    8 a.m. - noon
THURSDAYS 1:30 - 7 p.m.
FRIDAYS        9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

You are encouraged to pre-register at to save time, but walk-ins are accepted at all locations during operating hours. You can log in to your account anytime to view your appointment, reschedule or cancel and to see your results.

Screenings are for individuals without symptoms. If you have any symptoms that could be COVID-19, please do not go to be screened. The screening is a painless, self-administered nose swab that only takes about a minute.

Results are typically available in 24 hours. You should receive an email notifying you when you can view your result by logging into your account.

Keep Learning Plan

The pandemic has forced students to make tough decisions that disrupt their academic progress. Some are choosing between continuing their educational paths and meeting basic needs, such as paying rent and utilities, buying food, child care and health care. 

We have a plan to keep students in college and on track in the face of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 crisis. Our Keep Learning Plan relieves the financial burden of tuition and fees through scholarships.

Here are four strategies for financial relief to help you stay in college:

Financial Help for Early Childhood Care

The early childhood program has funds from a Department of Education CCAMPIS grant to help pay for childcare for students with children from six-months to five-years.

Students enrolled in CTE programs can apply for the CCAMPIS grant to help pay for off-campus care at select accredited early childhood programs. Through the grant, parents enrolled in the program will only have to pay $15 - $20 per week for childcare. The grant is open to other SAC students with young children as well.

To remain eligible for the grant, students must complete these requirements:

  • Earn grades of C or higher in all courses 
  • Maintain enrollment in a minimum of nine credit hours 
  • Check ACES email on a daily basis 
  • Attend three scheduled parent workshops 
  • Meet with child’s teacher 
  • Complete four volunteer hours 
  • Meet all required deadlines for submitting documentation

Class Format Definitions 

Hybrid/Blended Course

NEW: HYBRID: This course has online or remote instruction with an on-campus (on-site) component.

Online/Fully Distance Education Course

NEW: Online: Asynchronous instruction delivered online via Canvas and additional online tools. There may be a face-to-face component such as orientation, laboratory, exam review, or an in-person test.

Remote Synchronous

NEW: Remote Learning: Synchronous instruction, the same as a standard course only on Zoom at the originally scheduled class times. It offers the benefits of face-to-face instruction while maximizing social distancing efforts. Remote instruction will take place via ZOOM, Canvas, and additional remote-access tools.

Face-to-Face (F2F)

NEW: Face-to-Face: This course meets on-campus (on-site) for instruction. 


Note for Distance Learning: Participation in class requires a computer, microphone and a webcam. Contact your instructor to address any issues that might prevent you from using your webcam. After enrolling in class, contact OTS if you need to borrow equipment.
