Dr. Naydeen González-De Jesús became the 13th president of San Antonio College in January 2023.
Known to her colleagues and students as Dr. Naydeen, she is a visionary strategist, results-driven leader, educator, and diplomat. She has devoted her career to advancing social mobility and economic prosperity through educational opportunities.
Prior to her arrival at SAC, she served as executive vice president of Student Success at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), creating social mobility pathways for 30,000 students. During her time at MATC she led Achieving the Dream efforts, a national reform to accelerate graduation and workforce preparation.
From 2016 to 2020 she was the public diplomacy officer for the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, dedicating her time to impacting the lives of students from the U.S. and abroad by creating connections and platforms for student success and faculty-led research. Among her many achievements in this role include leading high-level conversations and projects related to the G20 World Summit, liaising with the American Chamber of Commerce, conducting the largest U.S. university fair in Argentina with more than 2,000 students, and producing more than 1,000 Fulbright international exchanges.
Dr. Naydeen served as vice president of student affairs for Bergen Community College in New Jersey; as associate dean of academic advising and special populations at Rowan College at Burlington County in New Jersey; and as assistant dean of student services and founding member and director of the Center for Student Success at Salem Community College in New Jersey.
While at Bergen, Dr. Naydeen led Project Graduation, an initiative that was nationally highlighted through the American Association of Community College’s 21st Century Center, which also received several Bellwether Award nominations for its ability to help students complete their college education, thus moving the needle on student success with a focus on equity. In addition to the wide array of experiences in the government and higher education sectors, she has served as board development strategist and contractual negotiator.
A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Naydeen is an Aspen Rising Presidents Fellow and a National Community College Hispanic Council Fellow. She is a member of the San Antonio Chapter of the prestigious International Women’s Forum, the World Affairs Council of San Antonio, the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship, and the American Council on Education. She is the 2024 Woman of the Year awardee by The Texas Diversity Council.
A military spouse, she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in student personnel services from Rowan University, and a doctorate from Northcentral University in industrial/organizational psychology.
