Computer Information Systems
What is the Computer Information Systems program?
The IT courses in the CIS department develop skills that are in demand by employers in both the public and private sectors.
Instructional techniques which emphasize hands-on activities with computer hardware, software, and systems are designed to give students an understanding of their professional responsibilities and necessary occupational skills. The central purpose of all programs is to develop occupational competency. Students should be able to:
- Apply skills as indicated by the various degrees and certificates with a minimum of supervision.
- Operate practically any computer equipment after a brief orientation period.
- Prepare necessary documentation and communicate in a satisfactory manner with other personnel concerned.
- Direct their educational background and ability toward mastering new and special techniques as the need occurs.
