How to Request Disability Services for Class Accommodations for NEW SAC students with Disabilities

Please Note that Requests for Accommodations for the Spring 2024 semester will not be accepted until after November 1, 2023

To begin the process, please complete the “Request for Disability Support Services for Class Accommodations”

In order to submit your request, you are required to attach the following:

  • Documentation of disability

Here is a sample list of eligible documentation:

  • High School Special Education Records (504, IEP, ARD)
  • Medical record with Disability Diagnosis
  • Mental Health Diagnosis
  • Any Military/Veteran records Stating Disability
  • Any Other Supporting Documentation
  • Documents can be scanned by using your Smart Device and downloading any Free App, such as Evernote Scannable

Once we have received your “Request for Disability Support Services for Accommodations” with the required documents, we will contact you to review next steps to secure an Intake Appointment at the phone number and/or email that is specified on your request form. Please be sure to check both. 

Allow up to 10 business days (Excludes Weekends and Holidays) after submission to be contacted by Disability Services staff.

We encourage you to call us at (210) 486-0020 if you have any questions. 

For students that would like to designate a representative to assist them with their college business, the FERPA release form must be completed and submitted to our office.  A fillable form can be found by clicking this button:

Accommodations are not retroactive.  Accommodations begin the day the letter is sent to professors with the exception of testing. Professors should have at least 24 hours’ notice to prepare for making arrangements for accommodated testing. 


How to Request Disability Services for Class Accommodations for RETURNING SAC students with Disabilities

Please Note that Requests for Accommodations for the Spring 2024 semester will not be accepted until after November 1, 2023

To begin the process, please complete the “Request for Disability Support Services for Class Accommodations”  

Please note the following:

  • A copy of your disability documentation must already be on file with the disABILITY Support Services office PRIOR to providing accommodations.
  • Students receive copies of their letters of accommodation via their ACES email account.

Allow up to 10 business days (Excludes Weekends and Holidays) after submission to be contacted by Disability Services staff.

Please take into consideration there is a time-sensitive process for requesting and approving accommodations. The dSS Accommodations Specialists will meet with you to determine eligibility for services.

TSI How to request my TSI Exam once I’ve been approved for accommodations
  1. If approved for services, the dSS office will schedule an outreach request for TSI accommodations with dSS Team Member, Ms. Meek, at the conclusion of your Intake Meeting.
  • Ms. Meek will assist with access to software, if applicable, and discuss links for paying and scheduling the TSI Exam.

    2. To ensure your accommodations are in place the day of your TSI exam, please notify Ms. Meek 2 business days prior to your scheduled day and time.

Please Note: At this time, all TSI appointments are scheduled through Examity. We have no control over their website and/or appointment times.

If you would like to take the TSI with no accommodations, you may go directly to the Assessment Center website for instructions on payment and how to schedule your TSI Exam.

 

How to Notify the DSS office for a new SCHEDULE CHANGE after I have submitted a Class Accommodations form

Please contact the disABILITY Support Services office at sac-dSS@alamo.edu to send you the supplement accommodations form.

How to Request Disability Services if your home college is NOT San Antonio College

Please complete your "Request for Disabiltiy Services" with your home college:

  1. Once your Request for Disability Services is approved, the home college will notify the respective sister college(s) of your co-enrollment status.

  2. The student will be contacted via phone and/or student email from each co-enrollment college to set up a new intake for accommodations meeting.

  3. Accommodations requested for each co-enrolled course will be reviewed.

PLEASE NOTE: Medical documentation can be electronically transferred between the Alamo Colleges’ Disability Support Services offices. The letters of accommodation will be sent by each Alamo College you are attending.

How to Request Interpreting Services

The Interpreting Services Manager coordinates interpreting services and on-boarding services to new students.

In order to qualify for services, a student must provide documentation of verification of disability.

An interview with the Interpreting Services Manager will begin the process.   The link will provide the form.

 

Dual Credit Students

For classes through high school campuses, accommodations will be made by the high school counselor. 

For online, dual credit classes taught by Alamo College faculty, accommodations can be provided via the respective Alamo College.

Early College Students

If you are taking a San Antonio College class and would like to request accommodations, please complete the process outlined in the first red tab above labeled, “How to Request Disability Services for Class Accommodations for NEW SAC students with Disabilities.”
