Anxiety and Memory, October 26, 2021 12 p.m.

Anxiety can be a deceptive area of strain in one’s day to day life experiences. Many do not realize the full scope of how anxiety can affect the body and brain and how we are very commonly unaware of the disruption it puts us through. Memory and anxiety have a unique connection that is not often discussed. There are several common misconceptions on how the mind works when retaining and/or retrieving information. At the completion of this workshop, participants should have a better understanding of anxiety and its effects on memory, performance, and executive functions as well as learning ways to improve their memory while reducing anxiety symptoms. To sign up for this workshop, please email Will Levay at wlevay2@alamo.edu

Being Vulnerable: Is it a Weakness or a Power?, October 14, 2021 10 a.m.

This workshop intends to help the participants understand what vulnerability is and how it feels. Vulnerability is about showing up and being seen, and it can be tough to do when we are concerned about what people might see or think. However, it is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. It is our hope that participants will learn the power of being vulnerable and are able to identify when and how to use it. To sign up for this workshop, please email Anil Pakakkal at apalakkal@alamo.edu
