LGBTQIA2S+ Services at San Antonio College

Campus Pride Index

The Campus Pride Index sets the bar higher for LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs and practices.  The index is owned and operated by Campus Pride, the leading national nonprofit organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create safer, more LGBTQ-friendly learning environments at colleges and universities. The index is supported under the Campus Pride Q Research Institute for Higher Education as well as benefits from strategic partnerships with professional organizations in higher education and related LGBTQ nonprofit organizations.4andHalfStar-1-300x300.png

Pride Committee

The Pride Committee at San Antonio College meets every spring to begin coodination of Pride events at San Antonio College in June. The committee engages the student body by coordinating fun events leading up to the "Pride Bigger Than Texas" Parade at the end of the month. LGBT+ History Month Committee

The LGBT+ History Committee meets anually to coordinate educational events for the SAC community.  The events typically are held from October 15 - Nov 15th annually.  The committee is funded $7,500 from the Student Activity Fee annually.

Canvas Information

Students whose name is not shown correctly on the "Display Name" in Canavs can have it changed by contacting the IT help desk at 210-486-0777.

In addition to the Display Name change, students can add pronouns to their profile.  Go to your "User Settings" page, edit your settings, and select from the list of pronouns in Canavs.  Pronouns will display after your name in various areas in Canvas.

San Antonio Public Library: The Tea Room - Students can leave anonymous questions about navigating gender and sexual orientation.  Volunteers at the Pride Center answer based on their own experiences and observations.
