Health and Safety Temperature Screenings

COVID-19 screening has ended. SAC students, faculty, staff, and visitors no longer need to have their temperature checked or receive a wristband to enter the campus.

COVID-19 Testing Information

Effective Monday, April 5, Community Labs will suspend Alamo Colleges District COVID-19 screening sites for staff, faculty, and students at all five colleges and DSO due to a loss of state funding for school testing, effective today. 

The community screening site located at the Alamo Colleges District Support Office will remain the only site in operation across the district.

At this time, employees who are scheduled to work regularly on-site are not expected to get screened for COVID-19 on a weekly basis. 

Mass COVID-19 Testing Hours of Operation and Locations

The city has established a public mega testing site available for the community (open to the public).

Metro Health announced a new, no-cost COVID-19 test site at the Alamo Colleges District Support Operations Building – Cyber Cafe. Metro Health encourages individuals to get tested if they have symptoms of the coronavirus. The new test site was contracted by the City of San Antonio to reduce wait times and add capacity in the region.

The test site is operated by Community Labs and will be offered at the following location and hours. No appointment is necessary. Testing is done on a walk-up basis only. Results will be provided within 24 hours.

COVID-19 Reporting Procedures

As cases of COVID-19 persist, we want to be sure that you are aware of the process for reporting COVID-19 cases at San Antonio College.
 
Any faculty member, staff member, or student who has tested positive or been exposed to COVID-19 should immediately complete the COVID-19 Incident Reporting Form and do not access campus.
 
 
You must complete the report:
  • upon notification of exposure to COVID-19 or a positive COVID-19 test result;
  • regardless of whether you have been on-site or remote;
  • if you share a home with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19;
  • or if you exhibit the onset of COVID-19 symptoms (CDC COVID-19 Symptoms).

Reports need to be submitted for employees working onsite or remotely, students learning onsite or remotely, vendors onsite within the past two weeks, and community members or others onsite within the past two weeks.

Anyone can submit a report. It is preferable for the affected person to submit a report, but anyone can submit a report regarding an affected person. The MOST IMPORTANT thing is that a report is submitted IMMEDIATELY.

Once the form is submitted, Risk Management will follow up to provide all necessary information and the next steps based on the specific situation.
 

Follow-Up Instructions

  • Employees and students should stay home, notify their supervisor or instructor, and respond to any phone calls or messages from Gerald T. Dove, SAC Coordinator of College Risk Management, the SAC Risk Management team, and Alamo Colleges District Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Employees working onsite and students attending classes onsite – DO NOT come to campus until officially released to do so by Risk Management.

Wellness 360 Clinic and Telehealth Services

Primary health care is available for Alamo Colleges District students through a partnership between the Alamo Colleges District and UT Health San Antonio’s Wellness 360 program.

Through Wellness 360 at the Alamo Colleges District, students can visit with a medical professional in an on-site clinic or via telehealth from the comfort of their home, or anywhere they have phone and Internet access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to wear a mask?

Beginning May 21, 2021, in compliance with the governor’s executive order, face coverings will no longer be mandatory.

SAC will continue to strongly encourage mask usage in all buildings, in alignment with CDC, city, and county guidelines.

Will the COVID-19 vaccine be mandated for students or employees to return to campus?

The health and safety of SAC is a shared responsibility, and vaccination is one of many efforts we may choose to take to protect ourselves and those around us. With health and safety as the top priority, all students and employees who will be onsite are strongly encouraged to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. I have tested positive for COVID-19 or was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Do I need to report it to San Antonio College?
Yes. If you have been exposed to or have tested positive for COVID-19, you must complete the COVID-19 Incident Report immediately, and take the following steps.
 
Employees:
  • Notify your supervisor of your status
  • Respond to all requests for follow-up information from Risk Management
  • Do not come to campus until you have been released to do so by Risk Management. Note: Procedures regarding campus access for remote employees remain applicable following release by Risk Management
Students:
  • Notify your instructor(s) of your status
  • Respond to all requests for follow-up information from Risk Management
  • Do not come to campus until you have been released to do so by Risk Management
