SAC PTK Chapter Recognized with Five Star Award
April 14, 2021
SAC’s Beta Nu chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa national honor society received three awards at their regional convention this spring, including the Five Start chapter award.
To receive the award, a chapter must submit an Honors in Action project, create and submit a College Project, and submit an individual chapter award.
Additionally, the chapter must attend the International Catalyst convention and current officers must complete Edge program modules or leadership development modules on the PTK website.
Beta Nu also received the College Project Award of Merit, which counted to receive the Five Star chapter award. For their college project, the Beta Nu executive team created and gave presentations on leadership development to students beginning college in Fall 2020.
And the chapter was honored with the REACH Award: Recognizing Excellence in Acceptance and Completion in Honors. The award is given to chapters that achieve or exceed 15 percent of their membership acceptance rate.
Currently, the Beta Nu chapter has about 335 members and will induct new students this month.
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society which recognizes undergraduate college students with a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher. Membership is lifetime and scholarships are often automatically given to PTK members upon transfer to some universities. Scholarships are also available for associate degrees.
