September 23, 2021
The St. Philip’s College Vocational Nursing Program at the Central Texas Technology Center (CTTC) in New Braunfels has ranked #1 in Texas by Nursing Schools Almanac (NSA).
The methodology by NSA included an evaluation of an extensive database of student performance on the NCLEX-PN licensure exam. The data collected was then analyzed to calculate the NCLEX pass rate among first-time test-takers in each program. The St. Philip’s College - New Braunfels program ranked the strongest among Texas LVN programs with a 100 percent first-time NCLEX pass rate.
The CTTC campus is aligned with the St. Philip's College Vocational Nursing Program to provide the same educational opportunities for vocational nursing needs in the New Braunfels community. Learning at the CTTC provides consistent educational experiences where students can concentrate on their studies in a smaller environment.
The Vocational Nursing Program curriculum covers fundamentals of vocational nursing, ethical and legal aspects of nursing practice, nutrition, gerontology, communication skills, body structure and function, administration of medications and solutions, medical and surgical nursing, obstetrical nursing, pediatric nursing, mental health nursing, and professional development.
In addition to classroom study, students receive supervised laboratory and clinical experiences in local long-term care facilities, clinics, hospitals, and other health care facilities in San Antonio and surrounding communities.
