Ms. St. Philip's Among 2022 Black Nurses Rock Scholarship Recipients

St. Philip’s College 2021 Homecoming Queen, Leianna Bell, is a recipient of the 2022 Black Nurses Rock Scholarship. Black Nurses Rock, a non-profit organization founded in 2014, is the largest online community where professional African American nurses share, network, and develop together. Scholarship recipients are selected on a basis of academic achievement, financial need, and community involvement.

Leianna Bell is a second-year Occupational Therapy Assistant student graduating in May. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Resurrection Baptist Church. Leianna is originally from Louisiana where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Theatre from the University of New Orleans (2011). Her undergrad studies have led her to appear in films and tv shows such as Django Unchained, Lee Daniel's The Butler, NCIS New Orleans, and Disney Channel Original Movie, My Invisible Sister. 

Leianna is also the recipient of the Social Justice Scholarship, ACORN Career Employment Endowed Scholarship, and is the reigning SPC Homecoming Queen. With a degree in hand, Leianna plans to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and obtain employment at a local hospital or skilled nursing facility.

Leianna is a mother of two young girls and wife to a retired Marine. Her hobbies include spending time with her family and all things related to the arts including choreography, performing, singing, and crafts.
