What are High School Programs?
High school programs include those that allow high school students to take high school courses concurrent with college level courses. Specific courses have been identified as having both the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) and are thereby aligned and able to be taught by the same qualified instructor that meets the requirements for both the high school and the college course.
In order to participate, high school students from public, charter, private and those being home schooled, must meet the minimum requirements for each course. This may entail meeting assessment scores on the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSI), ACT or on End of Course Exams from English II or Algebra I. For more details course requirements, please contact your respective College High School Programs Contact listed on the right of this page.
High School Programs allow students to advance their post secondary journey, saving them time and money by taking college level courses while in high school.
Alamo Colleges is proud to offer high school students throughout our service area programs that allow them opportunities acquire college credit hours before they receive their high school diploma. Some of these programs offer students courses that lead to Level 1 Certificates or different Associate degrees. High schools located within our service area are eligible to participate.
Charter schools, private schools and home school students in our service area are also able to participate in these programs. For more information on what college could provide your school with dual credit courses and/or other high school programs, contact Rosena Garcia, District Director of High School Programs.
