Tiger Lanes Rules & Expectations
Each bowler/visitor, parent, or group point of contact visiting Tiger Lanes must agree to the following safety and house rules:
Participation Disclaimer – Bowlers/visitors must be cautious when bowling or using the Tiger Lanes facility. Bowling is an active, competitive sport that requires physical ability, coordination, and skill. As a result, the sport may present dangerous situations and the risk of serious injury. Due to the physical requirements of bowling, a fall, accident, or injury may occur regardless of the condition of the approach and other areas within Tiger Lanes. Please bowl with caution and at your own risk.
Individual Responsibility- Bowlers/visitors must practice safety at all times. Each parent or adult in charge, especially when children are bowling or present, is responsible for teaching each person in their group the safety rules and making sure they are followed. Outside community members and SPC students, Faculty, and Staff are also responsible for ensuring they and anyone in their party follow house rules. Anyone who violates a rule could be subject to losing their Tiger Lanes bowling privileges.
Approach - No food or drink is allowed on the approach (official bowling area leading up to the pins). Slippery, wet, or sticky spots may impact a bowler's delivery, causing them to fall or seriously injure themselves. Bowlers should always inspect the approach each time before bowling and make adjustments as needed. If the approach is sticky or slippery, stop bowling and ask a Department of Student Life (DSL) staff member for assistance.
Ball and Shoes - Bowling shoes must be worn at all times while bowling. It is also encouraged that the correct fit for bowling balls and shoes are selected for safety and comfort. See a DSL staff member for help selecting or changing a ball or shoes if needed. Bowlers should remove bowling shoes prior to leaving the alley. Should you leave Tiger Lanes in your bowling shoes, you must clean the soles of your shoes before bowling, as moisture or a sticky substance on the sole of a shoe can cause falls and serious injury.
Foul Line – All lanes are treated regularly with oil and are extremely slippery. Crossing the foul line can cause a fall and serious injury. After crossing the foul line, clean the soles of shoes before bowling. Ask a DSL staff member for help if needed.
Tripping Hazards – Bowlers/visitors must watch for step-ups to and from the approach or seating areas. Bowlers should keep all clothing, bags, and personal items clear of walking paths to avoid tripping. You are encouraged to use a locker if available to safeguard your items (see DSL staff at the front desk for details). Please notify a DSL staff member about any tripping hazard right away for immediate correction.
Equipment - Mechanical equipment is dangerous and can cause injuries. If a ball or pin is stuck or the bumper must be raised or lowered, ask a DSL staff member for assistance.
Ball Return - The ball return has multiple moving parts. Serious injury can result from reaching into the ball return opening. Keep hands away from the ball return and ball return tray. Watch children.
Each bowler will have access to a lane for only one game at a time. After one game is complete, students must join a wait list (if applicable) to bowl again and will be subject to a gaming fee for each additional game.
Tiger Lane staff will manage the bowler information and game progress of each lane. The use of vulgar or disrespectful names on monitors is prohibited. Should a bowler need to be added or removed, please see a Department of Student Life (DSL) staff member for support.
DSL staff will strive to serve bowlers/visitors in a friendly and courteous manner. No person will be denied service on the basis of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, physical disability or age.
DSL staff may refuse service or access to the bowling alley based on a bowler’s/visitor’s inappropriate behavior or dress. Clothing displaying objectionable pictures/words may not be worn. Disruptive behavior (i.e. rough play or fighting) or the use of profanity/foul language is also prohibited. Bowlers/visitors must remain respectful and courteous to those around them. Those found in violation of SPC, Alamo Colleges District, or Student Code of Conduct policies are subject to having their bowling privileges revoked and conduct investigations.
No items deemed illegal, dangerous, or that encourages aggressive behavior is permitted in the bowling alley. Those found in violation of SPC, Alamo Colleges District, or Student Code of Conduct policies are subject to having their bowling privileges revoked and conduct investigations.
Outside food and drinks are only allowed at the two tables in the back of Tiger Lanes (unless special arrangements have been made for additional tables or permission is given for special events). Drinks with lids may be enjoyed near the couches and lane console, but should never be placed on the console, ball return, or couches. Any spills that are made must be cleaned immediately.
Climbing on/over equipment and furniture is not allowed. Please also refrain from sitting on tables, lane consoles, the floor near couches, and on the approach as all paths must remain clear at all times. Each lane may only have 5 bowlers/visitors sitting on couches and participating in a game at one time. To promote optimum safety, there is a maximum capacity of 50 people for the Tiger Lanes Bowling Alley.
DSL staff may, in its sole discretion, delay, suspend or end a bowling game or suspend or cancel a bowler’s use of the alley in whole or in part and at any time for any reason without penalty or refund.
DSL will strive to satisfy any obligation to a bowler/visitor concerning a claim or dispute relating to the use of Tiger Lanes by refunding the bowling fee paid (if applicable). Disputes can only be made by the impacted bowler/visitor (or parent/POC) on the date such obligation arose.
DSL is not liable for delays, postponements or other circumstances related to or caused by circumstances beyond its control including but not limited to the unavailability of lanes, loss of electricity, inclement weather, scheduling, fire, or flood.
DSL will have no liability or responsibility for injury to, or loss, theft or property damage suffered by a bowler/visitor while in Tiger Lanes, except to the extent such loss/damage is caused by DSL’s willful misconduct.
DSL will not keep score except by its automatic scoring equipment and is not responsible for equipment failure.
Bowlers/visitors may not display decorating or promotional material without DSL's permission.
