St. Philip’s College President Dr. Adena Williams Loston accepted a $10,000 donation for scholarships from the Cowboy Breakfast Foundation and WellMed. The annual event was cancelled this year, but SPC Culinary students traditionally volunteer to prepare hundreds of free tacos.

St. Philip’s College Department of Tourism, Hospitality & Culinary Arts received a $10,000 donation from the Cowboy Breakfast Foundation to support student scholarships. For over 20 years, the department has partnered with the foundation to produce their annual Cowboy Breakfast — the official kick-off event for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo season. Through their partnership, culinary students have received over $250,000 in scholarships.

159 students have benefitted from these scholarships over the years. The annual event was cancelled in 2023, but Cowboy Breakfast members and new presenting sponsor, WellMed, visited the college to present the check, holding true to their commitment to grow the San Antonio community.

St. Philip’s College offers degrees and certificates in tourism, hospitality management, hotel management, culinary arts, and baking and pastry to prepare aspiring professionals to support San Antonio’s robust tourism industry.

Programs are recognized as exemplary by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the American Culinary Federation. In 2021, St. Philip's College was named to the 10 Best Culinary Schools in Texas list by Best Value Schools (BVS).
