St. Philip’s College Hosts Fall 2024 Tiger Nation Family Day
September 9, 2024
On Saturday, August 24, St. Philip’s College welcomed incoming students and their families to Tiger Nation Family Day. The event, designed to introduce new students to the college campuses, saw a record-breaking turnout with over 600 guests.
The event began with a DJ and appearance by the college’s mascot, Phil the Tiger, followed by Library and Humanities Professor Kelli Wilder in full regalia. Carrying the college mase, she marched across the stage to represent the principle of “beginning with the end in mind,” a Franklin Covey Principle, and reminding our incoming students of the college’s commitment to student success through graduation and completion.
Following this, the college leadership team introduced themselves and shared how many years and colleges it took each to earn their undergraduate degree.
“As a new administrator at SPC, I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly encouraged by the sense of community and collaboration exhibited by the entire college family,” said Dean for Student Success, Educational Support Services Tommy Morris. “There was overwhelming support for success and a sense of belonging of our students.”
After the formal presentations ended, there was a campus party. Guests enjoyed a BBQ lunch, tours of the main campus and Southwest Campus, a student club fair, an academic department expo, a loteria game, and a job fair. There was also a balloon artist and bowling.
