Graduate Spotlight: Sincere Spivey
May 7, 2024
“It’s funny to think about how I’d explain this to myself four years ago. I would have never believed I could get a college degree and high school diploma at the same time,” said Sincere Spivey as he reflected on his experiences at St. Philip’s College (SPC) Early College High School (ECHS). “I’m doing the real thing early. It didn’t hit me until I got here, and realized I was doing school work that was out of the ordinary for a high school student.”
Hard work during his educational career has earned Sincere a place in the ECHS National Honors Society and the Academic Decathlon. Additionally, this past October, he was honored as the St. Philip’s College Early College High School Homecoming King.
In addition to earning these academic accomplishments and studying late nights for his high school and college classes, Sincere works a part-time job as an in-store shopper at H-E-B, clocking in anywhere from 12 to 16 hours a week.
After earning his Associate of Arts this May, Sincere plans to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) to work on his business management degree. After this, he plans to attend San Antonio College to study mortuary science.
The decision to focus on mortuary science came as a result of a heartfelt conversation with his mother. “A few years ago, we had this talk about my future and I realized I was interested in mortuary science. I want to learn about death and dying, to understand it all,” he shared.
“Looking back, I know I have changed a lot. The people I have met and the opportunities I have received from St. Philip’s College have changed my life. I’m just excited about what lies ahead.”
Congratulations Sincere!
