What is the Alamo Colleges Educator Preparation Program?

The Alamo Colleges Educator Preparation Program is an alternative teacher certification program within the Alamo Colleges District. Our program prepares candidates to become certified teachers in the state of Texas.

What is Alternative Certification?

Alternative certification is a non-traditional route to teacher certification that allows one to teach in the classroom.  It requires candidates to already hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Fast-Paced Curriculum

Our state-accredited program can be completed in as little as 9 months.

Small Class Sizes

Class sizes cap at an average of 20 people. These classes allow for more student engagement, better contact with our instructors, and flexibility with scheduling.

Supported Field Experiences

Field observations are conducted by certified former administrators. Additionally, field experiences are ample opportunities for feedback and growth.

Our students are seeking to impact future generations. The effective teaching practices provided throughout our program allow them to do so.
