Welding

Program Type: Face-to-Face
Program Level: Continuing Education
Department: Continuing Education
Institute: Advanced Manufacturing & Logistics
College: SPC

What is the Welding program?

Basic Welding - Students will learn the theory and introduction to the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) processes. Skill in the welding process and the selection of materials and equipment will be stressed.

Introduction to Welding - With a hands-on approach, this AWS Welding Fundamentals course provides you with a comprehensive overview of the basic principles of welding. You will learn the basic science and practical application of the most commonly utilized welding processes along with other essential topics. At the end of the course, you will understand the fundamentals of equipment used in oxy-fuel, MIG welding, TIG welding, and arc welding, including welding and cutting safety, basic oxyfuel welding and cutting, basic arc welding processes and basic metallurgy.

Advanced Shielded Metal ARC Welding - Students will explore theories to the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) processes and learn advanced topics based on accepted welding codes. By the end of this course, you will be trained with various electrodes in shielded metal arc welding processes with open V-groove joints in all positions.

Advanced MIG Welding - Students will learn advanced concepts of flux cored arc welding of structural and fabricated steel products. Develop your skills in multi-pass fillet and v-groove welding. By the end of the course, you will know how to select and properly use the GMAW equipment and identify and describe shielding gases, types of metals and metal transfer and perform electrode wire selection while using the correct GMAW welding procedures

Gas Tungsten ARC Welding (GTAW) - Develop your welding skills to a new level. Advance your aluminum welding skills in this GTAW for an aluminum welding course. Progress your skills by learning safe welding exercises to include “T” and lap joints. This class provides hands-on exercises using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding techniques.

Advanced Gas Tungsten ARC Welding (GTAW) - Students will learn Advanced GTAW and explore welding various positions on both ferrous and non ferrous metals. Focusing on stainless repair on pipes and other stainless materials.

Pipe Welding - Students will learn the principles and practices of the shielded metal arc welding process used in the pipe welding industry today. Practice and get hands-on experience welding steel pipes and steel plates to American Welding Society acceptable standards. You will also gain workplace skills such as math, communications, and business ethics.

Layout & Fabrication - Take the next step in your field by developing your skills with this continuation course of Intermediate Layout and Fabrication. You will cover the production and fabrication of layout tools and processes involving welding codes, rod selection, reading basic blueprints, calculating dimensions and completing layouts.
