How AlamoPROMISE is helping one student pursue a law degree

Rebeca Hernandez, a 20-year-old recent Palo Alto College (PAC) graduate, is on her way to pursuing her goal of attaining a law degree thanks to AlamoPROMISE. 

Hernandez not only took advantage of AlamoPROMISE but is now attending The University of San Antonio (UTSA) as a pre-law student thanks to Promise-to-Promise, which allows eligible students to start at any of the five Alamo Colleges and then transfer to UTSA to complete a four-year degree essentially tuition-free.

Upon graduating from PAC, Hernandez was shocked and happy to learn about Promise-to-Promise. The program, she says, has allowed her to focus on her studies and has positioned her for a better future.

"I think this is just a blessing waiting ahead of them," Hernandez said about the impact AlamoPROMISE has on students. "It's that door that can open many opportunities in their life."

Hernandez is grateful for the support of her family and friends, who have always encouraged her to pursue her dreams. She is also appreciative of the staff at PAC, who have helped her succeed in her studies. 

"I come from a big family, and we're always there for each other," Hernandez said. "My family is my biggest support system."

Hernandez is excited to start the next chapter in her life and pursue her dream of becoming a criminal justice lawyer. She is confident that AlamoPROMISE will continue to support her as she achieves her goals.

"I'm excited to see what the future holds," Hernandez said. "I know that with AlamoPROMISE, I can achieve anything I set my mind to."
