The Alamo Colleges District is pleased to announce its MOSAICO gala helped raise $1.2 million for its AlamoPROMISE program.

Held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, the 2nd Annual Alamo Colleges District MOSAICO Gala, organized by the Alamo Colleges Foundation, welcomed higher education supporters at the Witte Museum to raise funds in support of the Alamo Colleges moonshot – partnering to end poverty through education and training.

By combining last-dollar scholarships and wraparound program support, AlamoPROMISE seeks to enhance economic and social mobility and meet workforce demands by helping students complete college and obtain the necessary skills to hold high-wage, high-demand jobs.

“MOSAICO is a shining example of the Alamo Colleges District’s dedication to breaking barriers and creating pathways for success,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor. “Education is the key to unlocking opportunities and eradicating poverty. Together, we are working toward a future where every individual has the chance to thrive through education and training."

Barton T. Simpson, Alamo Colleges Foundation Executive Director added, “We are immensely grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and attendees, whose contributions make it possible for the Alamo Colleges to continue delivering on our promise of eliminating financial barriers to education."

Long-time supporters of the Alamo Colleges District, Deborah Knapp and Celso González-Falla, served as event co-chairs. Jane and Larry Macon served as honorary chairs, and our Lead Partners in the Promise were Michael and Louise Beldon. Bill Taylor and Vanessa Croix, KENS 5 anchors, served as the gala emcees throughout the event.

During the event, MOSAICO spotlighted the accomplishments of AlamoPROMISE students and distinguished alumni, including the Hon. Edward C. Prado, a former San Antonio College alumnus. Judge/Ambassador Prado is the former United States Ambassador to Argentina and a distinguished federal jurist.

Also recognized at the gala were students from each of the Alamo Colleges who serve as shining examples of the success of AlamoPROMISE. The students were:

  • Olivia Hernandez, Palo Alto College
    Prospective AlamoPROMISE student

  • Jamaal Peterman, Northeast Lakeview College
    Current AlamoPROMISE student

  • Kaylah Smith, Northwest Vista College
    Former AlamoPROMISE student and alumna

  • Enrique Salinas, St. Philip’s College
