Transfer Academy for Future Teachers (TAFT)

The Alamo Colleges District and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) are partnering to offer a co-enrollment program, the Transfer Academy for Future Teachers (TAFT), to create a seamless educational experience between the institutions for students seeking to become teachers.

It will enroll its first students in Fall 2021.

Benefits of TAFT

  • Co-enrollment at one of the Alamo Colleges working toward an Associate of Arts in Teaching while simultaneously enrolled at UTSA.

  • Selected students are guaranteed admission to UTSA’s College of Education and Human Development (COEHD)

  • Participants will be placed in cohorts and will enroll in courses together.

  • Participation in the summer bridging institute to enhance the success of future teachers transferring to UTSA.

  • Access to services at both UTSA and ACD.

Application Guidelines

  • Students must first apply and receive admission to one of the Alamo Colleges as either a first-time-in-college student applying for admission or as a continuing student.

  • The Alamo Colleges will pre-qualify candidates and provide them with instructions for the TAFT application.

  • The UTSA Admissions office will review applicants and invite qualified students to participate in TAFT.
