General Student Qualifications
  • 18 years or older
  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Must be a GED or high school graduate
  • Clear a background check and/or drug screening
  • Enrolled in one of the Alamo Colleges
  • Completed at least 12 college hours, with 25 to 50% being major courses
  • Minimum of 2.50 GPA
  • Ability and commitment to work and fully complete entire project duration

Undergraduate Research Application

Undergraduate research provides students with the opportunity to work on projects that explore new ideas or solve real-world problems. Guided by faculty, students delve deeper into topics they care about while acquiring valuable skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking. This hands-on experience helps students prepare for future jobs or further studies and can create opportunities to connect with professionals in their field. This experience will take place at either UTSA or TAMUSA.

  • Home Campus: Palo Alto College
  • Must have completed at least two semesters
  • 2.50 Minimum GPA
  • At least part-time student (6+ hours)

The Military City USA Consortia of colleges across San Antonio, with support from DoDSTEM, develops a local talent pipeline for DoD mission-critical careers.

100% of Wages Funded by Alamo Colleges: Military City USA (MCUSA)

Employers may hire Alamo Colleges STEM (MCUSA) majors as interns for positions that provide career-relevant work experience. This program allows employers to gain a part-time employee with fully supplemented wages while playing a significant role in the education and development of aspiring STEM professionals.

Benefits:

Employers receive a part-time intern at no cost, with wages fully funded by Alamo Colleges through Military City USA funds. Students, in turn, gain valuable real-world experience, enrich their academic knowledge, and enhance their job prospects post-graduation.

How It Works:

STEM majors work with a partnering employer, and wages are paid by Alamo Colleges through DoD - Military City USA funds.

  • The STEM position(s) offered
  • The number of hours worked per week (10 - 19 hours)

Employers commit to an intern's employment for a period of 18 weeks and are required to accommodate students' academic schedules and activities.

The Details

The Employer:

  • Post position(s) in the Alamo student job bank
  • Receive reviewed student resumes & cover letters
  • Interview candidates; Make internship offers

Alamo Colleges:

  • Refers eligible students for consideration
  • Conducts basic criminal background checks
  • Manages all HR and payroll details
