About the Program
From literature and technical writing to composition and Integrated Reading and Writing (INRW), our faculty provide you with a world of discovery and practice. We will help you fine tune your writing skills and equip you with the tools necessary for academic and professional success. Whether you are an English or communications major, or just taking our courses to satisfy your degree requirements, we offer you a range of options to tailor your collegiate experience to your own goals, interests, and desires.
What will I learn?What you will learn by taking English courses at Northwest Vista College is how to communicate to a diverse world in a meaningful way, develop strong critical thinking skills, and effectively analyze arguments. Engaging in peer evaluations and participating in cooperative learning activities will also help develop your skills as a team player and prepare you for the workplace or another academic venture. |
What can I do with this course of study?When you study English you are opening a door to a diverse range of professional fields, including teaching, journalism, creative writing, library science, music and theater, advertising and publishing. English majors bring strong reading and writing skills to their work. They have success in careers in the media and fine arts, as well as business and social services. |

The English and INRW department at Northwest Vista Colleges is distinguished by a student-centered approach. Our goal is to help students develop confidence and build valuable skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking. The concepts you learn in English courses can be applied to every field.
