Dr. Minkyung Lee is a versatile musician who sings opera and performs recitals throughout the United States. She also serves on the faculty of the Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program at the University of Texas at Austin.
Bio:
Assistant professor of Voice and Director of Choral Activities, Minkyung Lee, soprano, has been a member of the voice faculty at Northwest Vista College since 2014. Dr. Lee, a native of South Korea, received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in vocal performance from the University of Texas at Austin. She served as faculty for the Butler Opera Center Young Artists Program from 2015-18 and joined Butler Opera International in 2017. Some of her honors include finalist for 2019 Teacher of the Year, serving on the Committee for the NATS Advancement, NATS South Texas Chapter Workshops, NVC Convocations, and Excellence in Mentorship Awards in 2021.
Dr. Lee performs widely as a recitalist and presents as a masterclass clinician at various conferences and universities across the United States and Korea. With Lux Musicae, Dr. Lee is praised for her ability to “Beautifully capture the emotional essence” to perform many new art songs by NYWC. Lee and Amici Cantanti are currently planning a recital tour in cities throughout the south. Her voice art project, One Step Closer: Joy of Collaboration of Classical Music, lines up outstanding guest artists while coordinating and directing extensive music events at Northwest Vista College. Performance highlights include the role of Mrs. Holen in the Premiere Opera Genghis Khan, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mrs. Norlan in The Medium, the Nursing Sister in Suor Angelica, and the title role of Anna Bolena.
