Brand Definitions

Brand Identity

Any distinctive feature like a name, term, design, or symbol that identifies goods or services. The brand is everything your mind connects to a company.

The NVC Brand Image

Our reputation that is represented through consistency in the use of our logo (symbol, shape) and identity (colors, fonts, signage, collateral), and customer experiences (messaging, advertising, contact, trust, confidence).

Logo

The visual representation of the college (part of the established NVC brand image that cannot
be spoken).

Department Logo

A sub-logo of the NVC logo that allows departments to associate themselves with the established NVC brand. This is limited to official college departments, programs, and initiatives. No acronyms or abbreviations will be used.

Once the NVC logo includes the department name, it is considered one piece. No changes can be made to individual pieces of the logo.

No additional logos can be made or used to represent NVC, a department, or program.

Graphic

A combination of design elements and text used in marketing materials, apparel, merchandise and promotional items. These are not considered a logo and when used must also include the NVC logo separate from the design elements. A graphic may be designed for special events when used along with the NVC logo.

Identity Mark

Special graphic used to promote college initiatives. A Mark does not replace the NVC logo and cannot be used without the NVC logo. Specific guidelines are provided with each Mark and their use is often time limited. Example: NVC 30th Anniversary.

Initiatives

For college-wide and/or District initiatives, a special identity mark to be used alongside the NVC logo may be created and approved for limited use. These identity marks cannot be a part of the NVC logo and must be kept separate from the NVC logo on any materials.

Templates

Graphic documents pre-designed in PowerPoint and Canva that have areas for customized text and/or images and are available for download on Alamo Share and can be found at Alamo.edu/NVC/Identity. MarComm can also provide files as PSD, AI, EPS, and InDesign formats by request.
