What is Geology?

Geology is the study of the composition, processes, and history of the Earth. How rocks were formed and what has happened to them since formation. It is also the study of the evolution of life by analyzing plant and animal fossils.

What will I learn?

Students will learn the foundations of geology to include becoming familiar with the terminology and the history behind this science. Students will be prepared to transfer to the university to complete a Bachelor’s Degree.  

What can I do with this course of study?

Students who are interested in geology will often transfer into a bachelor’s degree program to continue their studies as a career as a geologist often requires an advanced degree.  Employment can be found in environmental consulting companies, government agencies, petroleum and mining companies, and higher education.
