What I teach:
I teach ENG 1301 and INRW courses in the English and INRW department. I received my bachelor's degree from St. Mary's University and my master's degree in education from the University of the Incarnate Word. I completed certification in Composition Studies from Indiana University. I have even more graduate coursework completed from Our Lady of the Lake University and Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
Areas of special interest for mentoring:
My areas of expertise are in reading, education, and writing instruction. I am teacher certified in the state of Texas in the areas of English and Spanish. I am also certified in the state of Texas as a Reading Specialist (all levels). Anyone interested in languages, reading, writing instruction, teaching, or ESOL is invited to be my mentee; however, I am open to anyone outside of my discipline.
Since I am a mother of two school-aged children, I know what it's like to be a busy parent going to school. If you are interested in having a mentor motivate you and give you the kind of guidance that you need, I am your person.
I am open to mentoring students who are outside of my institute or pathway.
Anything else:
I have varied interests beyond those mentioned above; for example, I love all science-related subjects and nature. I am open-minded, dedicated, and willing to work with you to make your educational experience at NVC a valuable one.
