Bio:

I am an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Co-Founder of Psi Beta at Northwest Vista College. Within the past 18 years of teaching in a collegiate setting, I have taught a variety of courses: General Psychology, Lifespan, Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Social Psychology, and Human Sexuality. My educational background is in Clinical Psychology, and I have professional experience in a variety of settings, such as working with children on the autism spectrum, adolescents with an intellectual disability and a mental health diagnosis, and adolescents with substance abuse and/or juvenile delinquency issues. As a community health advocate, I have served on the Rio Grande Valley’s Mental Health Coalition board and participated in a myriad of community volunteer opportunities: NAMI Walks, Out of Darkness Walk, Adopt-A-Road, Special Olympics, Magdalena House, Relay for Life, and CASA. Outside of the classroom setting, I aim to assist students as they navigate the early college years. I look forward to collaborating with mentees as we identify individual strengths, tackle barriers, connect with campus and local resources, set academic and personal goals, and develop a working template for a path to success.
