About Dr. Scott Walker

Institute:  Science & Technology

Education:

Sc.Ed.D.|Science Education|Curtin University

M.A.G.|Applied Geography-Natural Resource Management|Southwest Texas State University

B.A.|Photography/Art|Sam Houston State University

Preference:

Prefer students in Geography and/or Environmental Science, but open to others.  Interested in working with students who have a broad focus (declared pre-major or not) in geography, geospatial technology, geosciences, environmental science, and environmental studies. Also interested in students who want to do undergraduate research with me and/or learn more about where they can find external research opportunities.

Experience:

Some of my former students have gone on to work during summers in the US National Park Service and US National Forest Service. One student and I worked on her application for a National Science Foundation Undergraduate Research Opportunity application and she ended up working one semester in Rwanda on women’s health issues with a professor from a university in Washington (all paid for and with a stipend!).

We can work on a very specific transfer plan, conceptualize an extracurricular research project of your making (I’ve published and presented research with NVC students), or just knock around ideas.

Also, we can meet via Zoom videoconference if you’re tight on time or out of town/studying by distance. See: https://www.linkedin.com/in/scottlwalker/
