About Us
The Writing Center in Juniper Hall 216 (campus map) offers NVC students an inclusive, welcoming, non-judgmental environment to receive writing support.
Our friendly, knowledgeable writing coaches/tutors provide one-on-one consultations to help students plan, draft, revise, and edit their writing assignments and tasks. Our collaborative process is designed to help students build writing skills for academic, personal, and career success.
Our Goals
- To provide students with an opportunity to further develop their study skills and understanding of course content.
- To provide students with an opportunity to develop positive attitudes towards themselves, their studies, and their writing and cognition skills.
- To empower students to become confident, effective, and independent learners and writers.
- To work in partnership with faculty and staff to identify and assist students with academic needs.

Student Services
Walk-in Writing Consultations (30-60 minutes)
We offer NVC students customized, one-on-one writing consultations with friendly, knowledgeable tutors for any academic or career-related writing assignment.
Remote Tutoring via Zoom
Drop in our open Zoom tutoring room during our hours of operation.
Open Writing Lab
Students can use lab computers and "focus pod," print with a GoPrint account, and access writing handouts. Our lab is a welcoming, quiet workspace to do your writing!

- Curated resources, including style guides, graphic organizers, and reference materials
Writing Center Policies
- We request that students seek writing support at least one day in advance of the assignment deadline to allow time to incorporate the tutor’s feedback.
- Please apply feedback between appointments to ensure that you are developing as a writer.
- Students who are working on take-home midterm or final exams must have instructor permission to work on these assignments at The Writing Center.
