Northeast Lakeview College was one of fourteen (14) colleges and universities honored by the Texas Veterans Commission and received the first ever Veteran Education Excellence Recognition.  This new award established by the State of Texas recognizes universities and colleges that provide excellence in education and related services which significantly contribute to the academic success of student veterans and military connected students.

“This is an amazing accomplishment,” says Dr. Veronica Garcia, NLC president.  “As the newest of the Alamo Colleges, we (NLC), just began offering Veteran benefits a few years ago.  I credit the staff of our Veterans Center for continuing to enhance the services we provide for our Veteran students and their families.”

Northeast Lakeview College received the Silver Award, along with Texas A&M-San Antonio and Texas Tech University.  Other Alamo Colleges receiving recognition include San Antonio College and Palo Alto College (Gold) and St. Philip’s College (Bronze).

Continuing to expand its services to student Veterans and their families, NLC will break ground in early Spring 2022 on a new $7.7M Veterans Center building.  The funds are part of the State of Texas appropriations provided to the Alamo Colleges for the 2022-2023  and the stand-alone facility will provide a “one-stop” location offering a convenient central place for them to have direct access to academic and non-academic services.
