Alamo Colleges District Campus Carry in Effect August 1, 2017

Senate Bill 11, passed by the Texas Legislature in 2015 and signed into law in June of 2015 by Governor Greg Abbott, will permit concealed handguns on Texas community college campuses, effective August 1, 2017. Known as "campus carry," this law permits individuals with a License to Carry (LTC) (formerly Concealed Handgun License) to carry a concealed handgun on college premises.

In fall 2016, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor Bruce Leslie appointed a task force of students, faculty members, staff members and administrators to develop recommendations to implement a plan at the Alamo Colleges District.
