What is the Social Work program?

Our field of study helps prepare learners who desire to transfer to a four-year program by first introducing learners to the discipline of social work and secondly, by providing each learner with a strong foundation to foster a better understanding of human interaction, specific needs of individuals, families, groups and communities. While simultaneously providing them with their needed core requirements.

What will I learn?

Our courses are designed to provide a strong foundation for various careers in social work. Courses cover the problem-solving process, teach interviewing skills, case management skills, and help develop a professional communication dialect that can be applied to individuals, families, groups, and communities.

What can I do with this course of study?

You can take your degree and leverage your opportunities in a local non-profit, governmental organization, or other entry level position. • You can transfer to a selected four-year university to obtain a bachelor's degree.

 What's special about the program?

San Antonio College is the only college to offer an A.A.S program and a Level II Case Management Certificate, in the Alamo Colleges. Our faculty are professional social workers who bring a wealth of experiences and compassion to the classroom. We take pride great pride in not only teaching social work but being the face of social workers. While the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) does not currently accredit two-year programs, we strive to meet accreditation standards by aligning our program with CSWE standards.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
