What is the program?

The Public Administration field is a challenging endeavor that prepares the student to work in the public sector. Employment maybe obtained at the city, state, county & federal levels of government as well as non-profit organizations. Some course include: Budgeting in the Public Sector, Public Sector Supervision, Urban Planning, Human Resource Management, Legal Aspects of Public Management and Labor Relations.

What will I learn?

An associate degree in public administration provides students with the practical education and skills necessary to run an administrative staff or department. Students learn the basics of financial accounting, human resources, organizational management, problem-solving, and budgeting.

What can I do with this course of study?

An associate degree in public administration typically prepares graduates for entry-level positions in the field. Individuals interested in advancing can either work their way up the corporate ladder or earn a higher degree by transferring their associate degree credits to a baccalaureate program. Entry-level positions may include: human services assistant, city planning clerk, accounting or auditing clerk, program specialist, information specialist, occupational safety specialist, legislative staffer, or grant writer.
