Bonita Amaya Named Director of Enrollment

Bonita Amaya is the new director of enrollment at San Antonio College.

As director, she will ensure that policies and procedures adhere to federal, state, and local legislative guidelines, and will oversee strategies to enhance enrollment functions such as admissions, assessment and testing and the Welcome Center.

Before coming to SAC, Amaya was the associate director in the Office of Admissions at Texas A&M University – San Antonio. She also was the returning student recruitment coordinator for over two years at the same university.

Amaya’s director of enrollment role at SAC marks a return to our college campus. She served as a certified advisor in the Health and Biosciences Institute between 2016-19 and as an advising team leader in the Creative and Communications Art Institute between 2019-21.  

Her career in higher education also had her at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she worked as a program coordinator and then assistant director in their Supplemental Instruction Program from 2007-16.

Amaya earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Texas at San Antonio in biology and educational leadership and policy studies, respectively.
