Early Childhood Center Curriculum

It strives to meet the needs of the "whole child" including the areas of social, emotional, physical, cognitive, creative, and language development. The curriculum emphasizes developmentally appropriate learning experiences through play. Learning activities are based on the BRIGANCE curriculum and NAEYC curriculum standards. Teaching staff develop lesson plans with input from the children based on their interests, ideas, and early learning needs. The daily schedule is organized to meet the children’s needs. For a balance of active and quiet play, large and small group activities, and Indoor/outdoor activities. The role of the teacher is to:

  • Schedule daily activities
  • Provide a variety of activities, materials, and equipment, including permitting risky play
  • Observe, assess, and provide
  • Stimulate children's learning by listening, questioning, giving choices, making suggestions, and allowing for a balance between child initiated and teacher-      initiated activities.
  • Foster creativity
  • Enhance curiosity
  • Serve as a role model
