Please allow 30-90 days for full processing of benefits. Make payment plans in ACES to avoid being dropped for non-payment.

Federal Veteran Benefit Options
Texas Hazlewood Exemption
The Hazlewood Act is a State of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption at public institutions of higher education in Texas. This does NOT include living expenses, books, or supply fees.

The Veterans Center helps all eligible veterans obtain financial assistance and information on Texas and Federal Veterans Benefits while they attend Northeast Lakeview College. The college participates in educational programs provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Northeast Lakeview College does not engage in high-pressure recruitment, nor do we provide additional compensation for recruiting military-connected families. Always confer with your education service office before engaging in any voluntary education activity.
NLC promotes priority certification and registration for Veterans, Active Duty members, and anyone using Veteran Benefits. Please refer to time ticketing for more information on priority registration dates for RETURNING military-affiliated students: https://www.alamo.edu/nlc/admissions--aid/registration--payment-deadlines/
Priority certification dates for new and returning students:
- Spring - December 7
- Summer – April 14
- Fall – July 28
Documents must be accurate and complete by the deadline. We cannot guarantee that GI Bill® certification requests and Hazlewood exemption applications submitted after these dates will be processed by the first day of the semester. However, we will continue accepting these documents until the end of the term.
